Q . How will I know that I am getting a high quality of training at Namah Shivaya?
A. Namah Shivaya is an International Yoga School , with an authentic program based on the ancient teachings of Yoga in India. Our programs are currently being taught in US, Mexico and with yoga retreats to India. We follow the Yoga Alliance standards to meet the requirements of curriculum and training . This certification is designed to bring the highest quality of training based on our experience of teaching, commitment to the students and above all the love of sharing this practice.

Q. How do I register with Yoga Alliance?
Q. Are there any Payment plans available? How much does each module cost?
A. Yes. You can register for the course by paying $250 and then make module payments for the duration of the course. Each module payments are listed for the course on the respective pages. There are no payment plans available for the 200 Hour Fast Track training.
Q. What must be the level of yoga practice to enroll for the Namah Shivaya Teacher Training ?
A. People with a foundation in the basic yoga postures are suited for this training. Any person who shows willingness to learn and an understanding of the limits of their own body, will develop the practice over the duration of the course.
We recommend you having taken some previous yoga classes to learn the basics of yoga practice. During the training you will deepen your understanding of the asanas and all aspects of yoga.
Q. Is the practice designed to lay emphasis on asanas or on other aspects of Yoga?
A. The curriculum has been designed to understand the broader perspective of Yoga and not just the physical practice. Our student testimonials reflect how they have gained from this training to practice Yoga on and off the mat.
Q. I have been practising Yoga on and off for a few months or sporadically for a few years. Am I ready to join the course?
A. The training is designed for Beginner and Intermediate level practitioners. We encourage a healthy and non- injurious practice which each student takes at his/her pace.
Q: What style of yoga is taught – Hatha, Iyengar, Vinyasa flow or other?
A: Our emphasis in asana is on posture and correct alignment rather than a particular style. Tej is trained by the Sivananda tradition which is a integration of Hatha, Raja and Vinyasa has a deep knowledge of Meditation and Kriya Yoga. Melissa has a strong background in Vinyasa and Ashtanga practice . Lydia has a strong Hatha yoga practice and brings a wealth of wisdom and knowledge to her mindful practice. Donna is trained in Kundalini, Hatha and Ashtanga Yoga practices. Trionne has vast experience in Yoga Therapy and brings her experience in working with a large number of students in the field of Restorative Yoga and Yoga therapy.
Q. Are there any Hot Yoga classes offered as well?
A. No, all classes are taught at room temperature.
Q. If I want to come and visit the training, can I drop in for any of the classes?
A : Yes, you are welcome to drop in on any of the classes, please check the calender and email us in advance for more information.
Q: What is the typical age of the students?
A: Students generally range from 20 to 65 years of age.
Q. I have some injuries related/ unrelated to Yoga. Can I still join the training?
A. We offer modifications for injuries throughout the asana practice and the course. If you have had any serious injuries/illnesses we recomend that you consult your physician and get approval before joining the course.
Q. What support is available during this process?
Q: Are the Yoga postures very intensive?
A: No. The course is designed as a fun and interactive course to gain the knowledge of yoga and skills necessary to practice all the yoga postures with awareness and understanding. We encourage steadiness of posture and proper alignment.
Q: How many students are enrolled in each training?
A: Our weekend courses average 10-15 students, and our Fast Track courses average 3-5 students
Q. What is the difference between the 200, 300 and 500 Hour courses?
The 200 hour program is a foundational yoga teacher training program which is recognized by the Yoga Alliance.
The 300 hour teacher training program is for yoga instructors that have already received a 200 hour certification through another school of yoga and are looking to deepen their studies and personal practice. Once the 300 hour program is completed, you are able to receive a 500 hour RYT certification through Yoga Alliance.
Q. How long will it take to complete the 200 Hour Fast Track Training?
A : The Fast Track is a 4 Week course and meets Monday – Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.
Q. How long will it take to complete the 200 Hour Weekend Training?
A. The 200 Hour Weekend Training is a total of 9 weekends and we meet one weekend a month. It meets from 8am-6pm on Saturday & Sunday.
Q. How long will it take to complete the 500 Hour Weekend Training?
A. It will take a total of 13 weekends are required to complete the 500 Hour Training.
Q. What if I miss a weekend of training during the 200 Hour Weekend Training?
A. You will need to make up the exact module to complete the course curriculum . You can repeat this module by attending that module during the 4 week Fast Track training program.
Q. What is the eligibility for the Master 3000 Hour course?
A. Students who are currently enrolled in the 500 Hour Weekend Course or have Graduated the 500 Hour course are eligible for this program. This course is an integration of Kriya and Kundalini practices and students who are drawn to the energy dimension of the Yoga practice, will find the Kriya yoga very useful to open and balance their Chakras, bringing healing to the mental, physical and emotional bodies.
Q: I have a background in physiotherapy, do I still need the required anatomy texts?
A: If you are already familiar with human anatomy through previous study and have qualifications in physiotherapy or similar, please bring the texts you have available.
Q: When will I find out if I have been accepted into the training?
A: After you submit your completed the application form and have paid the deposit, you will be contacted via email with an acceptance letter, subject to space availability.
Q:What is the refund policy if I’m unable to complete the training?
1. There is a $250 non- refundable deposit due at the time of reserving a space for the 200/500 Hr Intensive & Weekend Program and Kundalini Program.
2. A student who has commenced the 200/500 Hr Intensive/Weekend Program and is unable to complete the course, can use any unused portion of tuition as a credit toward future courses.
3. Namah Shivaya reserves the right to refuse admission to any student to any of the Yoga Programs, without assigning any reason whatsoever. Namah Shivaya reserves the right to withdraw a student from any of the ongoing courses without assigning any reasons whatsoever.
Q: Do I need other qualifications or experience to be accepted into the training?
A: To qualify for our Training Courses, you must complete an application form and include details of your background and experience. You must be proficient in English language. Each application is considered on an individual basis.
